About Us
At The Dance Company, our goal is to provide our students with a positive and fun dance experience with top quality instructors who care about the progress of each child. With students ranging from age 2 thru high school graduates, our goal is to teach skills and techniques that will last a lifetime.
Offering classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, Hip Hop and Cheerleading, we stress learning proper technique while making the environment fun!
Ballet is the foundation of dance allowing emotion expressed through dance. It is essential to develop the skills needed to become an excellent dancer such as: Balance, Discipline, Poise and Grace. Students are required to wear a solid color leotard and pink tights with hair pulled away from face.
Tap is an active class that consist of fundamental rhythms created by the feet. Students will learn proper techniques and incorporate coordination of movements.
Jazz is a free style of dance that emphasizes precision, freedom and high intensity of movement. Class always begins with a series of exercises to strengthen and build flexibility to avoid possible injury.
Acrobatics consist of all levels of tumbling. Students will work on improving strength, timing and technique. Students must wear fitted dance attire with hair pulled back and away from face.
Cheerleading - The goal for this class is to give each athlete the correct cheerleading skills needed for tryouts at the Elementary, Middle and High School level, as well as to be used for recreation in a fun and creative atmosphere. With many years of experience our safety certified instructors are ready to help every athlete achieve their goals. This class offers NCA, UCA and ECA required technique for: Motions, Chants, Cheers, Jumps, Stunting Basics, Dance, Cheerleading Safety, Cheer Vocabulary as well as flexibility and Strength Classses. All instruction is under the guidelines of AACA, NFHS and TSSAA rules and regulations. Our goal is to have fun while learning to jump, cheer, stunt and dance!
POLICIES & INFORMATION
REGISTRATION FEE:
A non refundable registration fee of $30.00 is required per student to reserve class space (unless you are pre-registered).
MONTHLY TUITION:
Monthly fees are due by the 10th of each month. Tuition remains the same whether it is a long (5 week) or short (3 week) month and regardless of absences, vacations or holidays. No refunds or adjustments will be made due to absences. Make-up classes are available and should be taken during the month the class was missed.
No statements will be sent out unless you have an outstanding balance. A late fee of $15.00 will be added for payments received AFTER the 10th of the month. Late Fees will be ENFORCED.
A fee of $30.00 will be charged for all checks returned by the bank.
If you wish to terminate enrollment, written notification is required before the 1st of the upcoming month. Billing will continue until written notification is received.
PRIVATE LESSONS:
Private lessons are available at an extra charge. Please speak to the front desk assistant if you are interested.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is taken at each class. Consistency is important for dance training; therefore, students should arrive on time and dressed ready to begin warm-ups at their scheduled class time.
DANCE WEAR:
Proper dress for dance is extremely important. Teachers need to be able to see a dancer’s body in order to correct proper body placement and technique. A solid leotard and pink tights are expected for ballet. Hair must be secured in a bun or pony tail, off the face and off the neck.
Dance Shoes are available for purchase at The Dance Company or may purchase on their own. However, students MUST bring proper shoes to each class.
CLASS OBSERVATION:
Parent observation days are generally held in December and January. Observing class at other times is not allowed due to the distraction of students. All visitors and siblings should remain in the lobby area. Only dancers are permitted in the studios.
RECITAL:
The Dance Company holds their annual recital at Science Hill High School in May. All students are invited to participate although this is an optional performance.
A recital fee of $55 is due by April with costumes averaging from $45.00 - $70.00 each. Costume deposits are due at the end of December before the students leave for Christmas Break. After January 1, deposits are non-refundable.
HOLIDAYS:
Holidays will generally follow the Johnson City School System’s schedule. Holidays will be posted and will be confirmed in the newsletter available at the 1st of every month. We do not close for teacher workdays.
SNOW OR BAD WEATHER:
The studio will follow the Johnson City School System’s schedule. If in doubt check FaceBook, the website, call the studio at 423-283-0404 or Sherrie’s cell # 423-341-2492.
LOST & FOUND:
Once a month, any item(s) left in the lost & found will be donated to Goodwill or thrown away. Please get in a habit of checking this basket monthly.
INSURANCE:
The Dance Company does not carry medical insurance for its students.
